Service Description: This is a representation of the 2015 wildfire perimeters in California that were available on GeoMAC as of October 7th, 2015. This data has not undergone the typical quality control process in order to be added to the interagency fire perimeter database. The attributes are as follows: FIRE_NAME - name assigned by the agency fighting the fire COMMENTS - notes about the perimeter that aren’t captured elsewhere, most commonly how the perimeter was collected AGENCY - the landowner where the fire occurred ACTIVE - the state of the fire when the perimeter was collected INC_NUM - the incident number assigned to the fire ACRES - acres within the perimeter This data was acquired from GeoMAC ( on October 7th, 2015 and as such come with the following disclaimer: “Information presented on this website is a representation of the existing wildfire situation in the continental United States including Alaska. While every effort is made to provide accurate and complete information, proximity of fires to populated areas may not be accurately portrayed. Please refer to the Map Layer Information subheading under GeoMAC Help for specific definitions of data layers. The same information is available under HELP while using the map. Although this database has been subjected to rigorous review and is substantially complete, the United States Government reserves the right to revise the data pursuant to further analysis and review. Furthermore, it is released on condition that neither the USGS nor the United States Government may be held liable for any damages resulting from its authorized or unauthorized use.”
