description: In October of 2015, Governor Edmund G. Brown made an emergency declaration due to unprecedented levels of dead and dying trees from the drought and bark beetle epidemic in the State of California. In response to his Executive Order the State Tree Mortality Task Force (TMTF) was created. Comprised of 80 entities the TMTF represents state, federal, tribal, local agencies, nongovernmental organizations, utility, and energy companies. Together these stakeholders are coordinating emergency protective actions and monitoring the imminent threats to public safety regarding critical infrastructure, public water conveyance systems, communication lines, communities, and schools. This service displays the locations of processing and storage sites for High Hazard Zone wood and slash from bark beetle and drought killed trees within the 10 High Priority Counties. High Priority Counties were identified by the TMTF as most in need of assistance in addressing tree mortality issues and include: Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Fresno, Kern, Madera, Mariposa, Placer, Tulare, and Tuolumne. Not shown are "Private" sites and this data is current as of June 2017.
