Description: Special Treatment Areas (STAs) are 68 designated forested natural and scenic resource areas within the Coastal Zone where timber harvesting requires special logging practices. The Coastal Commission adopted the forestry STAs and guidelines on July 5, 1977 and officially transmitted them to the California Board of Forestry on July 20, 1977. The digital STA data provided herein has not been adopted by the Coastal Commission. In addition, the digital boundary data does not supersede the official versions of the STA boundaries as delineated and defined in certified documents adopted by the California Coastal Commission and transmitted to the California Board of Forestry as described above.
